VIC: Forensic experts called to fire scene baby still missing

Police forensic experts are sifting through the scene of a house fire in Melbourne's east
today, as the search for an eight-day old baby continues.

Police have declared the house in Ballara Street, Doncaster, a crime scene, and have
interviewed the mother and father of the missing child, believed to be a baby boy.

The mother of the child was taken to Box Hill Hospital by ambulance shortly after the fire
started in the front of the house this morning.

It's believed she's been treated for shock.

A police spokeswoman says police are following a number of leads in relation to the missing
child.
