Fed: Republican chief appointed to Liberal think tank

The man who led the failed campaign to make Australia a republic has been appointed
to the board of the Liberal Party's think tank.

MALCOLM TURNBULL, who only recently stepped down as chairman of the Australian Republican
Movement, is to be director of the Menzies Research Centre.

Liberal Party President SHANE STONE says it's encouraging that Mr TURNBULL is again
active as a Liberal.

He says Mr TURNBULL'S commitment and ability to motivate people will be a great asset.

Despite his prominent role in the republic debate, Mr TURNBULL has long been associated
with the Liberal Party and is the son in-law of former Liberal Attorney-General TOM HUGHES.

Mr STONE says Mr TURNBULL'S appointment is evidence of the Liberal Party's inclusive nature.

Other directors of the Menzies Centre are Mr STONE and former Liberal Party federal
director ANDREW ROBB.
