KUALA LUMPUR, Thurs. - A new online scheduling system for United States visa applications, taking effect on Tuesday, should result in speedier approvals.

Visa applicants will now be able to make appointments over the Internet for a specific time instead of queuing up all day.
The US Embassy's Second Secretary, Ray Castillo, said this would enable applicants to arrive at the appointed time and they would be given priority.

From Tuesday, visa applicants will be able to go to http:// malaysia.usembassy.gov/klcons2.html, click on the link for the online scheduling system and follow the instructions onscreen.

He said that as of Feb 14, visa applicants would have to show the security personnel at the embassy their scheduled appointment receipt obtained online.
